Fall Fruits and Vegetables

It's officially fall! That means you should start keeping your eye out on these fruits and vegetables at the farmer's market or in the store. Or maybe you're lucky enough to harvest these from your garden! Depending on your region's climate, the list might be different.

Why should you eat seasonally?

  1. The flavour of the fruits and vegetables is different. That means you will get to eat produce that has been harvested when they're ripe, instead of shipped to you unripe.
  2. The nutritional value is bigger because you get to eat it fresh.
  3. It saves money. When certain fruits and vegetables are in season, there is an abundance of them. This means they will sell cheaper as they aren't as hard to get.
  4. Smaller carbon footprint. When produce is in season, it doesn't have to travel long distances because you can get it from local farmers.
